Crazy Again

My sister is crazy again. Just to clarify for any new readers, when I say ‘crazy’, I mean really crazy. She is having a full-blown psychotic episode and it’s not pretty. You can read some of the crazy history here, here and here.

She has gradually been going in that direction for the last couple of months. I was not aware of just how bad it has become until today when I spoke with Lynne on the phone. She described waking up feeling as if she had been poked with a needle. She told me that she thought that someone had given her a shot. Because that can happen when you are sleeping at home in your own bed.

She had told my thirteen year-old nephew, J., the same story. He emailed my mom asking for help. He’s scared to be with her. My dad went to my sister’s house this afternoon and managed to talk to J. without my sister hearing. This may sound like a simple task but it’s not so simple when my sister has extreme paranoia. She had to be distracted by a friend so J. was allowed out of her sight for ten minutes.

J. told my dad that Lynne took him out of school early one day this week. He said that she took him to get his haircut and explained, “it’s for security reasons.”

It’s likely to get a whole lot worse.
