Just Skip This One if You Don't Have an Interest in Diapers

Regular posting will be back tomorrow. Really.

Anyone that has read this blog on a regular basis probably is aware of the fact that I have a ton of kids. Well, six to be exact. It’s not quite as crazy as it sounds when you take into account that the oldest will be 21 this year and the baby will be one this Saturday. So, three boys, ten years off, and then another three kids, girls this time. Needless to say, I have had a lot of experience with diapering.

I started out with just disposables but have since switched over to mostly cloth. Those of you reading this and thinking of diaper pins have not been keeping up with the times. Cloth diapers have come a long ways over the years. With easy Velcro tabs and built-in waterproof covers, it makes it easy to be ‘green’. My favorites are Bumkins all-in-ones. You can add extra cloth panels inside the diaper for extra absorbency and a handy biodegradable liner for flushing solid waste. It’s just an added bonus that they come in cute prints as well. You don’t have to soak them in a pail or do any extra work. You just throw them in the laundry and you are done.

There are many advantages to cloth diapering. You can use your diapers for several kids, it’s better for the environment, less expensive, less diaper rashes, and the cloth just feels better than paper. There is a reason why no one wants to wear paper clothes, right? Well, there is probably more than one reason for that but we’re not going into that right now.

I have bought my most recent supplies from Bumkins to liners from Sunflower Babies. The reason I mention that is because the customer service is exceptional, nice selection and fast shipping. I have ordered a couple of times and I have been impressed.

As great as cloth diapers are, one thing they are not great for is travel. I use disposables for that and sometimes for night. Luvs is offering a $5 off coupon for a limited time and that is a significant savings. It’s available here.

Okay, I didn't realize that you had SIX kids. Okay, maybe I'm a tiny bit jealous.
