The Big Sister

In the months since Marin’s birth, Katie has given her many, many pet names. These names tend to change quickly, with one followed by another in no particular order.

Katie, talking to the baby- "Come here you little nipple-head. You’re my little chicken nugget! You little hangaber!"
The baby responds with smiles and clearly adores Katie as well. Every now and then Katie will try to act like she’s not baby crazy but for the most part, it’s obvious that having a baby sister was the best thing that could have happened to her. A couple of days ago, Katie saw a baby on tv and seemed to be entertaining the notion that this OTHER baby was actually cuter than Marin.

Katie- "I wish we had that baby."
Me- "Are you kidding me?"
Katie- "No, that baby’s cuter."
Me- "No way. We have the best baby."
Katie- "No. THAT baby was cuter."
Me, trying to bring her to her senses- "Would you trade Marin for that baby?"
Katie, with no hesitation- "Yes."
Me- "You have GOT to be kidding me."
Katie- "Nope."
Me- "I can’t believe that you would trade Marin for a different baby."
Katie- "Just kidding. Who’s the cutest baby in the whole world?! Marin is! Come here, you little June Bug!"
