Hospital Stay for Claire

Claire has had a cold for the last week and when Claire gets a cold, asthma is not far behind. This morning Claire's asthma got a lot worse. I was following her asthma treatment plan but she wasn't getting much better. The nurse at her pediatrician's office had me take her straight to the ER. By the time I got her shoes on she was too sick to even walk. I had to carry her to the car and then into the hospital.

The nurse started her on oxygen within minutes of our arrival. She was examined and given a nebulizer treatment. She was improving but still working way too hard to breathe. The ER doctor called her pediatrician and they arranged to admit her. Claire started crying when she heard the doctor say that she would be getting an IV.

Claire got settled into her room and the nurse came to start her IV. Claire warned her in advance that she wasn't terribly happy about the needle and said, "I might scream." She cried but managed to hold back the screams.

She is doing a lot better now. She wants to go home but she is enjoying what she calls 'room service.'

With what Hospitals charge per day, it SHOULD be Room Service. ;-)
