Speaking the Language

Last night we took the kids to a Mexican restaurant. After years of watching “Dora the Explorer”, the 5 year-old, Claire, is now interested in speaking Spanish. She heard her dad order in Spanish and wanted to know how to say some different things herself.

She looks at her father and asks, “How do you ask someone to pass the salt in Spanish?”
Before her dad has a chance to respond, her four year-old sister volunteers, “You say, “Give me the salt!” That’s what you say.
